Grateful to be appreciated by these two students! Cards like these always gets me emotional, if you're a high school teacher you understand why.

This made me cry! Omg, my students get me in my feelings every time, when I get unexpected letters delivered to my classroom like this. I'm grateful. Thank you Lord, I have helped make another person feel seen, cared for and appreciated.

Breaking Chains

I like when my students get it. When they get that Ms. Mack is only here to help. When they get and understand the reason why I got into education. It's not for money, it's not for notoriety, it's because I want to be the one someone looks up to later on and say hey thanks for being there for me.

Several teachers were there for me growing up; now I am that teacher who has the chance to be there for others.

The Other Day:

A student stopped by my classroom and said “Hey Ms. Mack, I stopped by to tell you the good news.”

I answered with a questionable glance, “Really?”

“I graduated today,” he said.

“Congratulations! Are you ready for the real world?” I asked.

“Yes,” he said.

“Be the leader I know you can be and stay out of trouble,” I told him.

“Okay Ms. Mack,” he said, and then looking back one last time, he said “I’m sorry for those things I said to you.”

I looked at him and shook my head with an okay, and stated, “Remember, in the real world, you will not get second chances.”

“Yes, ma’am,” he said.

**I like to see my students learn from their mistakes and then do what they have to do to make things right.

My Work was Featured in Noire Life Magazine!

Hi everyone,

As a proud writer, teacher and lover of sisterhood, I was so proud to be approached about writing a feature story to be published on Noire Life's Online Magazine for Women's History Month. It is such a huge honor to have my work beside so many other great writers. This wasn't me, this had everything to do with God! Grateful for the opportunities that God continues to bless me with!

Read my article "From One Queen to Another" here: My Feature Article for Noire Life Magazine

I had no idea that the place of pain I was in back in 2017 would birth my blog. Then later my blog would open doors for me that no man can close. God always reminds me that the doors that are supposed to open will open.

Galatians 6:9: "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Below is a comment that was left on my story called "Changing Seasons." I would like to thank Brad for reaching out and thinking enough of my blog and little ole me to comment. Thank you so much! Each person I come across through my blog inspires me that there are other people in the world who care about living a life of purpose, integrity and values. A life that focuses on putting God first before self desires. Thank you again. Much love.

American Idol Audition

2/19/2021

On Sept 3, 2018, at 8:45am me and mom arrived at the American Idol auditions in Richmond, VA. Auditions started at 8am but judging by the line, it looked like it started the day before🙄 As soon as we got on the hotel transit bus to ride to the audition location, I realized I had left my audition ticket...so the driver had to turn back around after we were right there in front of the place. When we got to the hotel mom and I ran upstairs to print out my ticket in the print room. When we returned to the location the line was wrapped around two buildings outdoors. I looked at my mom dropped my head and said, "Mom I just want to leave. I don't know about this. We're late and I dont even know how this will turn out now." She looked at me and said, "Let's just see what happens. You've spent all this money on this trip." There were other things that happened to discourage me but my mom wouldn't allow me to give up. She's the real winner. Finally got in after waiting for 6 hours. The experience was great. Shot out to my bestfriend who held me down and talked to me during the drive to Richmond to keep me awake the night before, I love you sweetheart and to the new people I met at the auditions...yall are so amazing! We all helped keep eachother sane during the wait lol. It was the most nerve wracking, rewarding experience. It shows you that you can do anything you put your mind to. Auditions like these aren't for the weak.👊🏽And I learned that no matter how it looks, never count yourself out!🙏  I'm blessed to have such an amazing support team.

Woman Evolve

2/19/2021

In 2018, Sarah Jakes Roberts' posted an opportunity to intern for her brand, Woman Evolve. I was so excited to see where a new internship opportunity as a writer for her brand would take me. I'm a dreamer and feel as though nothing has the power to stop me from the things I want in life except for myself, so I auditioned. I like how God has given me the confidence to audition for things even when I may be a little nervous. One thing I can say is I have never let my nerves stop me from pushing myself into audition mode. After emailing a sample of my writing to the Woman Evolve team I received an email saying that I made it to stage 2 of the audition process! I was ecstatic, and made sure to send in my next piece of writing promptly. I did not receive the opportunity, however this showed me how valued my writing truly is. To be chosen among so many others for my writing skills as a finalist on a national platform meant the world to me. It put me on cloud 9 and confirmed that I am doing something right. If Sarah was to read this post I would want her to know that I appreciate her considering little ole me to be apart of something as dynamic as her Woman Evolve brand. Much love and respect.

This is where I share moments of accomplishment. No matter if I win or lose, the victory is in me actually getting up and trying and then dusting myself off to go back out in the world and try again.
