I like when my students get it. When they get that Ms. Mack is only here to help. When they get and understand the reason why I got into education. It's not for money, it's not for notoriety, it's because I want to be the one someone looks up to later on and say hey thanks for being there for me.
Several teachers were there for me growing up; now I am that teacher who has the chance to be there for others. The Other Day: A student stopped by my classroom and said “Hey Ms. Mack, I stopped by to tell you the good news.” I answered with a questionable glance, “Really?” “I graduated today,” he said. “Congratulations! Are you ready for the real world?” I asked. “Yes,” he said. “Be the leader I know you can be and stay out of trouble,” I told him. “Okay Ms. Mack,” he said, and then looking back one last time, he said “I’m sorry for those things I said to you.” I looked at him and shook my head with an okay, and stated, “Remember, in the real world, you will not get second chances.” “Yes, ma’am,” he said. **I like to see my students learn from their mistakes and then do what they have to do to make things right.

AuthorThis is where I share moments of accomplishment. No matter if I win or lose, the victory is in me actually getting up and trying and then dusting myself off to go back out in the world and try again. Archives
